Apartment 44

The apartment was renovated in order to fulfill the needs of a sport-loving couple. The sport equipment incorporation in the design serves as a reference point of the couple’s favorite hobbies, while dealing with their storage issue. Located on the first floor of a 4-storey block of flats, the apartment expands on 80m², while half of it accommodates the living space. Therefore, the need for a space enlargement feeling and functionality dictated the merging of the kitchen with the living room.
Serenity is achieved through the geometrical simplicity of the forms and is enhanced by the careful choice of colors and materials. Granite tiles, which resemble wood, were applied on the apartment floor and combined with underfloor heating provide ideal climate conditions all year round. White lacquered structures and grey tinted walls form a creative interaction of glossy and matte surfaces. The frosted glass used on the bedroom wardrobe doors creates a filter between the clothes and the bedroom space, resulting in a constantly changing frame. In the bathroom, the matte surface of the granite tiles along with the softness of the white homogeneous counter and the linear lighting reinforce the simplicity of the design.
The lighting design highlights the structures’ linear form while its variety and flexibility provides the required atmosphere based on the mood or occasion. All in all, the use of hidden light combined with cantilevered structures creates a floating effect which reinforces a general feeling of relaxation.
