Yolk

The interior design for this modern office harmoniously caters to the dynamic needs of both a theatrical production company and a law firm. Situated on the third floor of an old Athenian office building, the apartment was renovated to blend the identity of the two firms while ensuring a functional, inspiring and bright working environment.
The corridor to the office’s main entrance door is illuminated with a linear suspended light. A draping yellow curtain and a globe floor light beneath add to the whole composition and create an overall visually captivating theatrical entrance, that welcomes visitors and sets the stage for the unique environment within.
Inside, the office layout is thoughtfully organized around a central meeting room, the “yolk”. Surrounded by glass partitions and wrapped with a yellow curtain, it constitutes the core of the office. The curtain allows for the meeting room to be visually isolated or unified with the rest of the office spaces. With its semi-transparent weave and yellow color, it adds a signature touch that sets the tone for the entire office. Depending on the light and the needs for privacy it changes shades and creates visual variations when it is opened and closed during the day. A sleek black table surrounded by matching chairs is placed at the center of the meeting room contrasting with the yellow curtain, exuding a professional yet contemporary feel.
Due to the north-facing orientation of the apartment and the lack of natural light implied, glazing partitions have been incorporated to allow abundant natural light to flood the interior. Together with white painted walls and light beige granite-mortar floor they add a sense of continuity throughout the office, contributing to the overall cohesion and brightness of the space.
When the sun goes down, linear ceiling lights ensure ample artificial lighting. The different hanging heights of the lighting design allowed for intersections and continuities that promoted visual connections between the office spaces. This continuity is further enhanced when the lights cast reflections on the glazing adding depth while creating dynamic and visually appealing patterns. Decorative globe lights add a playful element and in combination with hidden ceiling illumination contribute to the overall ambiance of the space. When the curtain of the meeting room is closed and the lights filter through, a yellow tone is emitted, creating a unique feeling.
The wooden oak elements of the kitchen, the peripheral cabinets and the desks are strategically placed around the office space to offer practical storage and functional solutions adding a touch of warmth and sophistication to the whole design. Homey and cozy furniture pieces and decorative features invite comfort and relaxation, encouraging productivity and collaboration.
Overall, this new office interior design illustrates an example of blending professionalism with joy and creativity while catering to the distinctive needs of two different firms without compromise and stereotypes. Furthermore, it promotes the essence of a productive working environment and questions the norm of the typical office interior.

Q Hotel Lobby

The hotel owner asked for a vibrant lobby space designed to attract both digital nomads and guests while blending into the neighborhood’s character. Located in Exarheia, an eccentric area often considered the anarchist quarter of Athens known for its radical democracy, the lobby interior combines elements of vintage, retro, and urban styles, creating a captivating and dynamic ambiance.
Grey aging concrete walls reflect the industrial influence and together with a black floor tilling scheme they provide a cohesive and stylish look.
A black metal mesh above the bar and the reception replicates the floor tilling pattern and seems to unify the two design features while bearing embedded lights to ensure adequate illumination. The overall dark feel is softened with the use of puce color behind the reception counter and the bar providing a splash of warmth and character.
The whole lobby space is organized to provide functionality and a sense of organization. In the center of the lobby, a long wooden table takes its place as a central gathering point. Above the table, hanging rope lights emit a warm and cozy glow, creating an intimate atmosphere. The combination of the wooden table and soft lighting adds a touch of nostalgia and charm. Further to that, a perimetrical wooden counter is placed under the ground floor windows urging guests to interact with passer-byers.
Black and white designer chairs occupy the space, providing stylish and comfortable seating options. These chairs add a touch of sophistication and enhance the visual appeal with their black and white contrast. Two yellow armchairs next to a cozy bookcase obstruct this contrast and inject a pop of color while inviting guests to relax and unwind.
Indoor plants are thoughtfully placed throughout the lobby, bringing a touch of nature and freshness to the environment. The greenery softens the industrial elements and adds a soothing and natural element to the design.
On top of all the above, a mirror ceiling is installed to give the illusion of height and spaciousness, reflecting the various design elements and amplifying the visual impact of the space. This feature adds depth and drama resulting to an overall unique and captivating space that provides a visually striking and immersive experience to the users.

A/2 Apartment

The apartment is situated on the third floor of a four-story block of flats in a quiet suburban area of Attica and was renovated for a family of four.
The aim was to create a unique minimal interior with a clean, modern and sophisticated look while at the same time provide plenty of storage space to avoid stuff clustering around the apartment.
Plan layout has been rearranged with plenty of closet additions and includes an open plan kitchen-living-dining room, the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, two kids’ bedroom and an extra WC with shower.
A neutral color palette of white, grey and beige has been assigned to the apartment along with black-detail elements. The dominant color is white, adding brightness to the whole and together with the wooden desaturated floor provides a calm and earthly effect.
Fluted white and beige surfaces portray elegance and obstruct whiteness by creating embossed areas of shade. Linear black slots add contrast to the overall whiteness and together with strategically placed white striated vertical radiators ensure indoor climate comfort while boosting design interest on the walls.
The open-plan kitchen and living room have been divided into two visually distinct spaces, utilizing the soothing color palette of white and beige. This division achieves a harmonious ambient transition between the two spaces while designating their boundaries.
A ceramic kitchen-island feature enhances this separation while serving as a functional and visually striking element. Surrounding the island, sleek white lacquered cabinets provide ample storage space and maintain a clean and uncluttered appearance.
Moving into the living room area, a transition takes place with the introduction of the beige color palette on the walls and ceiling. The main feature of the living room is a black lava fireplace which looks as if it moved by sliding on the wall leaving its print.
The bathrooms design is focused in functionality and visual comfort. Large frameless mirrors are strategically placed above the vanities creating a sense of spaciousness. Grey cement-like tiles form sinks and create a bold, monolithic design statement. The oversized nature of the tiles adds a sense of grandeur and creates a seamless visual flow throughout the space while allowing easy maintenance and durability. Accents of warmth have been achieved through the use of wooden cabinets that provide the required bathroom storage space. Additional touches, such as hidden lights and minimalist accessories, add to the overall calm look of the bathrooms.
Artificial lighting has been carefully designed to enhance the apartment’s interior character. Hidden lights along with slim linear recessed lighting fixtures illuminate the space with a warm, inviting glow, highlighting the linear geometry of the design. Together with simplicity in volumes, carefully selected fixtures and thoughtful accents the overall interior achieves a modern, inviting, and cohesive look.

Villa T

The project refers to the architectural study and construction of a two-storey building with basement and swimming pool on a 1160m² plot in Paros Island.
The building has a southwest orientation and consists of the main residence and two guesthouses. The guest house on the first floor is placed crosswise over the two buildings of the ground floor, creating a passage that resembles a small street of a traditional island’s village while at the same time complements the unified morphological entity of the whole. The division of the building into three distinct volumes along with its orientation variation achieves better natural ventilation, natural lighting conditions and flexible user privacy.
The general design was carried out with respect to the traditional Cycladic architecture of the island, maintaining small openings on the facades of the building and using the prevailing materials. The small square hole pattern combined with the square openings in the building facades and the stone walls evoke Cycladic towers while filtering natural light and air to provide atmospheric conditions of comfort. Passive shading systems by use of wooden pergolas are placed on the building’s facade and are integrated into the building volumes.
The outdoor space of the ground floor extends to the rooftop of the residence through a large outdoor staircase that leads to a relaxation area with a panoramic view of the mountain and the sea.
The interior follows the same philosophy of simplicity and purity with traditional and modern elements interacting with each other to compose a unique unified whole.

Olympion Apartment Building

The apartment building is situated in a suburban residential area and consists of five small apartments. The client who bought the site wanted to build an apartment building that would stand out to attract potential future buyers.
The aim was to design something unique while at the same time in respect with the surrounding context. Therefore, the building was somehow broken down into two discrete volumes that create a structural continuity with the adjacent blocks. In that way, the new building doesn’t overshadow the ones next to it and completes the site’s void as an urban suture healer.
Play with light and privacy is achieved by projecting and rotating the building’s floor volumes resulting in an urban sculptural overall form that achieves individual living conditions for every apartment.
White colour finish and wide glazed openings contribute to an elegant final design result which is highlighted by green roof tops that denote the building’s environmental character and identity.

WHO Offices

The brief asked for the interior design study submission of the World Health Organization’s new offices in an existing listed building apartment in Athens. The aim was to apply the necessary design interventions in order to implement the organization’s identity and profile with the minimum impact on the existing classical apartment character.
Blue was selected as the predominant color of the design and was used throughout the office spaces to indicate the organization’s identity and modernize the interiors. White lacquered office cabinets wrap the perimeter walls and along with white ceilings and doors create a balanced atmosphere between the two colors.
The existing decorative gypsum cornices and fishbone parquet flooring act as a reminder of the apartments history and interact with carefully selected modern furniture and lighting fixtures to illustrate a unique interior design solution.

Taureau Rouge Meat Boutique

The idea of a meat boutique in Paris came from the desire of the client to create a landmark fine-meat butcher shop where people would be attracted to it.
The façade of the existing store was cladded with precast ceramic parts to form a geometrical pattern that marks the exterior identity of the boutique. Glazed foldable doors are enclosed within the clay pattern providing the ability to open up the shop and create an immediate connection with the pedestrians.
Inside the boutique, the black and white mosaic tile floor acts as a reminder of a French vintage era that comes in contrast with the futuristic illuminated grid ceiling. The red marble was chosen as an optical reference to raw beef meat while the red-neon bull-sign underlines the shop’s character by betraying its name. Black fridge meat-displays along with black glass finishes, vertical slat surfaces and golden details contribute to an elegant whilst aristocratic overall interior design.

Villa V

The client asked for the redesign of an existing 70’s building to create a 1.000m² luxury villa on a 900m² plot. The building sits on a sloped site in a coastal area of Athens and provides spectacular views of Vouliagmeni Bay and the Saronic Gulf.
The idea of an external shell that wraps the existing building’s fabric provided the flexibility to experiment with volume while at the same time allowed for maximum reformation with minimum construction alterations. At the same time, the shell acts as a protective building skin that provides shadowing and air-circulation shafts that in combination with the horizontal louvers of the facades ensure ideal low-cost indoor conditions and the required privacy for the occupants. The black-tinted glass curtain wall of the main façade complements to the overall need for privacy and acts as a filter to the sun. The façade’s shape reinforces the dynamic form design of the villa which is achieved with angled shapes, resulting in an overall entity that resembles a precious gem resting on its angular base.
Water features were a key part throughout the design of the villa. A glass-bottom water bridge that indicates the passage to the building’s entrance connects to the pool area underneath through a waterfall that along with the fireplace, the rocks and the bamboo trees provide an ideal relaxing atmosphere to its habitants. An overhanging pool on the top floor complements the overwhelming experience while its glass bottom creates an “underwater” environment in the living area of the floor beneath.
Spacious floor planning with details of carefully selected furniture and marble surfaces along with unique lighting features and decorative elements contribute to an elegant and luxurious overall feeling.
